David S. Sager, M.D. was born in Chicago and grew up in Highland Park. He attended undergraduate college at Tufts University in Boston, and medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine were at the University of Illinois Hospitals in Chicago, and he did his Fellowship in Rheumatology at Parkland, Hospital in Dallas Texas. He studied there with Dr. Morris Ziff who was one of the founders of the specialty of Rheumatology. In Dallas, Dr. Sager was the recipient of an NIH Fellowship grant to do research in Rheumatic Diseases. Dr. Sager is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine as well as his specialty of Rheumatology.

Dr. Sager has served on the Research and Education Committee of the Illinois Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, and as President of the Chicago Rheumatism Society. He is also a founding fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He lives with his wife Karen in Highland Park. Dr. Sager has three children, and 4 grandchildren.
