Dr. Furmanov received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago having graduated with College Honors and Departmental Distinction. This was shortly after he made a transition from studying in the Ukraine at the Crimean Medical Institute. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Rush University Medical School and completed residency in Internal Medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. Dr. Furmanov then returned to his Alma Mater, Rush University in Chicago, to complete his fellowship in Rheumatology. Throughout his studies he was involved in multiple research projects in biochemistry, cardiology, and clinical rheumatology, but taking care of patients turned out to be the most rewarding and interesting part of being a highly trained medical subspecialist. Dr. Furmanov continues to learn to improve the quality of patient care. His technical armamentarium has been enriched with an ability to employ ultrasound technology for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including joint injections with improved accuracy and better outcomes for patients. Dr. Furmanov also speaks fluent Russian, Ukranian and basic conversational Polish.
